SERVING: OUTside the church

Ways to serve OUTSIDE the four walls

There are always opportunities to serve outside the church and be the light of Jesus to our communities. We'll post events or ideas here so you can consider helping out. And they may be a great resource for your Life Group service projects.

These events will often be events sponsored by other community churches or non-profit organizations looking for a helping hand.

Stone Soup Supper

Stone Soup Supper is a free community dinner hosted by St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Newport. Every Monday night one of five area churches takes turns preparing and serving the meal and cleaning up afterwards. Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. Our guests enjoy visiting together at a hot sit-down meal served on St. Stephen’s dishes and flatware. They can use some additional hands on the first and second Mondays of each month when smaller churches are in charge of preparing and serving the meal.

Helping with Occasional Needs

If you would like to make yourself available for occasional needs such as a church workday, joining a team to help someone move, or help out a single mom with grocery shopping, then add your name to the Helper List. You always have a choice to respond or not to any request.

Do you know of an event?
